Peel the potatoes, cut into thin slices (2-3 mm). The form of grease with butter and put it in layers of potatoes (slices should go at each other). Stir in the cream and milk, salt and pepper, add a little grated nutmeg and crushed garlic. Stir this mixture and pour over the potatoes. Cover with foil and bake shape about an hour at 190 degrees. Remove foil, sprinkle the potatoes with grated cheese and put under the red-hot grill for 5 minutes. Slightly cool gratin, cut into portions and serve with meat, poultry or fish.
